2023 Audi Q4 e-tron Problems: 13 Known Issues

On the 2022-2026 Audi Q4 e-tron, the MEB platform keeps a conventional 12V battery alive to run the telematics module, gateway, door handle actuators, MMI and the contactors that connect the high-voltage pack. On the 2022-2024 Audi Q4 e-tron, nHTSA campaign 23V842 / Audi 93U6 and 93U8 covers certain 2022-2024 Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback vehicles supplied with the compact charging system. At the 100-percent setting, an industrial 220V/240V plug or home outlet that cannot handle the requested current may overheat, increasing fire risk. This is not evidence that the vehicle charging inlet itself should be replaced.

On the 2022-2024 Audi Q4 e-tron, nHTSA campaign 24V361 / Audi 941L covers certain 2022-2024 Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback vehicles with incorrect headlight-control-module software. The parking lights may not operate as intended when the headlights are on and the turn signals are activated, reducing vehicle visibility. Eligibility is VIN-specific.

If the driver leaves the vehicle without engaging the parking brake, the missing or incorrect indication can contribute to a rollaway. Eligibility is VIN-specific.

On the 2022-2023 Audi Q4 e-tron, volkswagen Group recalled 2022-2023 Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron vehicles because, during a side-impact deployment, the head curtain airbag can deform the B-pillar door seal and expose the metal inlay inside the seal. The exposed metal edge can tear the inflating airbag, so the curtain may not inflate or hold pressure as designed. This is a deployment-time defect: there is no warning light, no fault code and no drivable symptom, so an owner has no way to detect it. The vehicle behaves normally right up until a crash, which is why the only reliable check is a VIN lookup against the campaign.

On the 2022-2025 Audi Q4 e-tron, audi fitted the Q4 e-tron with rear drum brakes rather than discs, specifically because regenerative braking does so much of the deceleration that rear friction brakes would otherwise rust. The drums help, but they do not eliminate the problem: moisture that gets past the drum seal cannot dry out, because the shoes almost never see enough heat to burn it off.
