2024 Audi Q8 e-tron Problems: 11 Known Issues

On the 2023-2024 Audi Q8 e-tron, current NHTSA campaign 26V240 / Audi 46P7 covers certain 2019-2024 e-tron and 2020-2024 e-tron Sportback vehicles, including the Q8 e-tron generation represented by this frozen 2023-2024 card. The fastener joining the brake pedal to the brake-booster pushrod may have been assembled incorrectly and can allow the pedal to detach, causing loss of normal brake function. The current campaign incorporates vehicles outside the earlier 24V621 / 46P6 population. Eligibility is VIN-specific.

On the 2023-2024 Audi Q8 e-tron, despite heavy regenerative braking, owners report faster-than-expected friction-brake wear and a returning brake vibration or pulsation under moderate braking, sometimes persisting even after rotors and pads have been replaced. The pattern points to poor rotor machining/installation or an underlying hardware/calibration issue rather than normal wear. On the 2024 Audi Q8 e-tron Electric, the Q8 e-tron can experience excessive 12V auxiliary battery drain when parked for extended periods. Despite having a large HV battery, the 12V system powers control modules, security systems, and connectivity features that remain active. A software issue in the high-voltage battery charger control module (diagnostic address 00C6) can repeatedly wake the vehicle's data bus while it is parked, discharging the 12V battery. This leaves the vehicle unable to be unlocked or started.

On the 2024-2025 Audi Q8 e-tron Electric, the motorized charge port door and its locking mechanism can fail, preventing the charge port from opening or properly latching a charging cable. The electric actuator motor or the latch solenoid can fail in cold weather or after repeated use. Some owners report the charge cable becoming locked in the port and unable to be released after a charging session.

An electrical connection in the front passenger seat can loosen, causing the occupant-detection control module to deactivate the passenger airbag and increase injury risk in a crash.

On the 2023-2024 Audi Q8 e-tron, owners report roughly a one-third loss of real-world range in winter, with in-town range dropping to around 62% of EPA figures during prolonged sub-freezing spells. When the high-voltage battery is very cold, the car limits DC fast-charge power (commonly 40-80 kW instead of the rated ~170 kW) to protect the cells until the pack warms. The large cabin's electric heater/heat pump also draws several kW in the first 10-15 minutes. This is normal lithium-ion physics plus thermal management, but it surprises owners who do not pre-condition the pack.
