Warning signs can include several driver-assistance or chassis warning lamps, an inoperative ISG system, limp-home mode, inability to turn off the engine, or smoke from the engine compartment.

On the 2024 Kia Seltos, nHTSA recall 23V830000 (Kia SC289) covers 1,367 certain 2024 Seltos vehicles produced from April 3 through May 8, 2023. A supplier welding setup error can break the diffuser disk in a side-curtain-airbag hybrid inflator, release stored gas and inflate the airbag without a deployment command. Inadvertent inflation can injure an occupant or distract the driver and increase crash risk. Kia identifies no advance warning.
