On the 2005-2010 Pontiac G6, on G6 models with the 4-speed automatic, the tabs on the transmission shift cable end can fracture/separate, or the shift cable adjustment clip may not be fully engaged. When this happens the shifter position and the actual transmission gear no longer match, so the driver can move the lever to Park and remove the key while the transmission is not truly in Park. This created a documented rollaway hazard and was the subject of NHTSA recalls 09V073000 and 14V224000.
