Owners report shudder while slowing or under light 25-45 mph acceleration, a 'rubber-band' hesitation, harsh or slipping engagement, and in worse cases overheating into limp mode. This is the single most common trigger on this platform, and a frequent gotcha is that replacing only the main thermostat leaves the still-stuck water control valve, so the code returns. A stuck-cool engine hurts fuel economy, delays proper cabin heat, and keeps the engine in open-loop enrichment longer.
